.AU Domain Name Rules
When registering a domain name with the .au suffix, you need to be aware of some restrictions on eligibility that are imposed by the Australian Domain Name Authority (auDA)
.com.au and .net.au
For commercial entities and businesses. Your domain name needs to be a close or exact match for your business name, or be relevant to a product or service you provide. An ABN or ACN is required.
.org.au and .asn.au
For non-commercial entities only (e.g. incorporated associations, charities and non-profit organisations, political parties, or sporting clubs). An ABN, ACN or incorporation number is required.
For individuals that reside in Australia. You may register any personal name by which you are known, including nicknames or shortened forms of your name.
